Third, Civil Wars should not end the game. Or hell, just force them to give me certain trade resources they own This is somewhat done now but it could be expanded upon and would be a good way to help increase playing Tall. Why has Imperator Rome failed? The other thing I'd like is the ability to sack opposing cities and take their populations as slaves. War indemnities were a pretty large part of the time period. EU4 managed to figure it out pretty easily. I know that Paradox can't seem to make the AI smart enough to not hoard mountains of gold but I feel like the solution was not to get rid of being able to take money but being able to just take a percentage. Taking territory and slave raiding really seems like the only reason to do it at the moment but it would be nice if I could take their money too. Cutting the number of trade resources would probably help as well as just getting rid of some of the modifiers like Capital Surplus so I don't have to spend 10 to 15 minutes scouring my country and the ledger for bonuses I want and shuffle around the trade goods.Īs for War, the first thing that comes to mind is increasing the amount of options you have for diplomacy. It's relatively easy the smaller you are and the less options you have, but the moment you start to grow, managing the various resources just becomes a little much. As for Trade, it just seems like too much micro. The current way of just moving pops into cities and then growing megapolises just seems off to me. I don't think i have any great suggestions for improving technology.

Second, technology, trade and war needs a rework. The Iberians playing and feeling similar to the Gauls is probably a mistake While I think that each tribe being different is ultimately untennable just due to the lack of information we have on them and just how many of the derps there are, each tirbal area should feel fairly distinct. One of the things thats been bothering me lately is how similar Carthage and Rome are. I think I'm finally starting to understand where some potential improvements could be done.įirst, the larger nations should feel distinctly different. I allied with them for a long time until I was sick of being pulled into their endless civil wars. Phyrgia was doing it's best China impression and kept exploding only to reform a few years later. In the end it hovered around 112% an I had 3 mega cities of 200+ pops with my capital just cresting over 500. So this is my third playthrough and my goal was to form Magna Graecia and then keep my Research Balance relatively high.
